These terms govern your use of the Stubvault mobile application and the getstubvault.com website (together, the "Service"), operated by Commerce Beacon ("we," "us"). By downloading or using Stubvault, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
Stubvault is a receipt and expense tracking app. It captures receipt images, extracts details on your device, stores them encrypted on your device by default, and produces exports you can share. Optional cloud sync is available and is off until you turn it on. Our Privacy Policy describes exactly what the app stores and sends; it is part of these terms.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and the rules of the app store you downloaded it from (including Apple's standard End User License Agreement where applicable). You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where the law permits it despite this restriction.
Your receipts, images, notes, and exports are yours. We claim no ownership of them. Because Stubvault is local-first, your content lives on your device unless you enable cloud sync, in which case you grant us the limited right to store and transmit it solely to provide the sync service to you. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups; if you keep sync off, deleting the app deletes your data with it.
Stubvault is a record-keeping tool, not a tax advisor. Category suggestions (including IRS Schedule C mappings), extracted amounts, and exports are provided for convenience and may contain errors — extracted fields are editable precisely so you can correct them. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your records and filings. Consult a qualified tax professional for advice about your situation.
Creating an account is required only for cloud sync. You are responsible for the security of your sign-in methods and for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time from within the app; deletion permanently destroys your synced data as described in the Privacy Policy.
The core capture-and-export features are free. Paid tiers, if offered, are billed through the app store's in-app purchase system under its terms, renew automatically unless cancelled in your app store account settings, and are refundable only per that app store's policies. Prices and included features may change; changes apply from your next billing period.
The app, site, name, logo, and all related materials (excluding your content) are owned by Commerce Beacon or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any of those rights to you.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that extracted data will be accurate. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Commerce Beacon will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost deductions, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or fifty US dollars ($50). Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the sync service if you materially breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (your content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) survive termination. The local app and your on-device data are unaffected by termination of the sync service.
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, in the app or on this page) before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. The "Updated" date above always reflects the current version.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Commerce Beacon is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
